HEAVEN GALLERY OPEN CALL

Heaven Gallery is a non-profit, multi-disciplinary arts organization in Wicker Park that mentors and presents emerging artists and musicians. The gallery is committed to social justice work through its racial equity policy for a 60% ALAANA (African, Latinx, Asian, Arab, and Native American) majority Board of Directors and artists presented.

Submissions will be considered for Heaven Gallery's exhibition programming for 2023/24. Exhibitions will be awarded a stipend of $300 (per one room show) - $600 (per two room show).

Strong proposals will include multiple artists from diverse backgrounds (age, race, gender) with compelling visuals and a strong exhibition statement. Curated, group shows or duo exhibitions  will be favored over solo exhibitions.

Please upload the following in ONE PDF FILE with the artist/curator names at the top of the document.
Ensure the document is legible (black text on white background is best). Below are the required submission details listed in the order they should appear in the proposal:

-Exhibition title
-List of confirmed artists / curators names (include pronouns / ethnicity/ age / location)
- # artists that identify as ALAANA
- # artists that identify as women
- # artists that identify as LGBTQ+
-Exhibition statement
-Images of art works (include title, year, materials and dimensions for all work. 25 images maximum)
-If there is video work, include a still image of the video and a link to a video clip of 2 min max
-Artist Bios

Decisions will be sent out in mid-March, 2022.

(*In compliance with our equity policy, we are required to fulfill a minimum 60% ALAANA artists for our yearly programming. Optional information such as race, pronouns, and age would be greatly appreciated to measure our compliance)

Programming will be compliant with the current COVID-19 restrictions.
