Step #1

Parent/Guardian must submit a completed application and ALL records requested below before transfer consideration will be given.

Required documents include:

Attendance record from previous school
Academic progress record from previous school
High school transcript from previous school (if enrolling in grades 10-12)
Updated discipline record from previous school
Copy of Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for students with special needs
Copy of 504 Plan, if applicable

Step #2

The Assistant Superintendent or Designee will review the student's records and verify the student's school history with officials from the student's previous school(s). Parent/Guardian will receive email notification of approval or denial by June 30, 2023.

Step #3

The Assistant Superintendent or Designee will make a decision on acceptance of the transfer student based upon the following criteria:

Student's discipline records at previous school: A student who has been suspended or expelled during the twelve months preceding the student's transfer request will be denied if the suspension or expulsion was for : ten or more days; a violation under IC 20-33-8-16 (possession of firearms, deadly weapons, or destructive devices); causing physical injury to a student, employee, or a visitor to the school; a violation of school corporation's drug or alcohol rules.
Indiana state law allows school districts to take into consideration unexcused absences a student has accumulated for initial placement or continued enrollment.
Class/program size at the time of request. In the event of a grade or program closure due to reaching capacity, an alternate school request will be recommended.
