The Effectiveness of X-Risk Arguments: What Should We Test?

Lots of resources have been going into arguing for the importance of existential risk. As a result, we now have an arsenal of reasons to care about x-risk. However, we know little about arguments actually resonate or about the kinds of people they resonate with. Understanding these issues could improve the effectiveness of efforts to get more people working on x-risk, as some arguments are probably more compelling than others. Similarly, some arguments are probably more worth testing than others. I am looking for second opinions on which these might be. Note: the arguments will be contextualized as follows: - definition and examples of existential risk - 1-2 lines about how we face a significant level of existential risk this century - "Working on reducing existential risk is especially important because..." [insert argument]
